What works, what to weigh

Strengths

5 reasons to book
  • Exceptional location in the old town — A 2-minute walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral, with the Hofburg, Vienna Opera, and shopping streets all reachable on foot. Guests repeatedly call it 'marvellous', 'perfect', and 'brilliant'.
  • Quiet despite the central setting — Rooms facing the courtyard are peaceful, and several reviews mention excellent soundproofing. A 2-minute walk from the cathedral, yet guests report no street noise at night.
  • Breakfast with made-to-order touches — Guests praise the variety of cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, and the option to order eggs and coffee made to your preference. Served from 07:00 to 11:00.
  • Thoughtful service and small gestures — Luggage storage before check-in and after checkout, umbrellas in the rain, welcome drinks, and even Mozart chocolates in the room. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful.
  • Clean, comfortable rooms with good amenities — Daily housekeeping, comfortable beds, and rooms that are either newly renovated or well kept. Many rooms come with a coffee machine, and some have balconies.

Worth weighing

5 to weigh
  • Breakfast can be hit-or-miss in hot dishes — While many guests love the breakfast, one reviewer noted a lack of oatmeal and few hot dishes. If you expect a lavish spread, it may feel modest.
  • Public parking is nearby, but it's not on-site — The hotel is in the pedestrian-friendly old town, so parking is off-site in a public garage. One review mentions an on-site car park, which may refer to a valet or partner garage – but it's not a standard hotel lot.
  • Very limited check-in window — Check-in runs from 15:00 to 22:30. If you arrive later, you'll need to make arrangements in advance.
  • Rooms can vary by floor and view — While courtyard rooms are quiet, some guests may end up facing the street. A few reviews note the room size varies, and the standard single is quite compact.
  • No kettle in all rooms — While some rooms have a kettle, others only have a capsule coffee machine. If you prefer tea, check before booking.

“Rooms are a good size and come with a coffee machine. Comfortable beds and a perfect stay. Breakfast had the usual coffee and tea options. The location is marvellous – just walking distance from everything, including a shopping area and a market across the street.”

8.2Verified guest

“The room was recently renovated and well appointed, with everything I needed. Breakfast was warm and substantial. Location was magnificent, and the staff were excellent.”

“We loved it. Reception was incredibly friendly, gave us tips on the city, and recommended restaurants and sights. The room was comfortable and very quiet – no noise from other rooms. Cleanliness was impeccable. They left Mozart chocolates and Nespresso coffee in the room, a nice touch. Breakfast was very complete: pastries, various breads, sausages, fruit, cereals, yoghurts, juices, nuts, pickles – more than enough to start the day. Location is excellent; you don't need transport for almost anything. The Sisi Palace is a bit far, but walkable.”

8.2Verified guest

“Great central location, quirky art decor, and easy access to public transport.”

8.2Verified guest

“Very convenient location, right next to St. Stephen's Square. One side faces a quiet street, the other the center. Walk to the Hofburg in 10 minutes, the Opera in 15 at a leisurely pace. Breakfast is not rich but not bad, with few hot dishes – I missed oatmeal. Room clean, daily cleaning. Bed was comfortable. My window faced the courtyard, so it was very peaceful – only the smell of fresh buns came in the morning. Soundproofing is excellent. They offer umbrellas in rainy weather. The staff is terrific, very cordial. I'd come back without hesitation and recommend it to friends.”

8.2Verified guest

“Family vacation for three. Great location, clean room, with a separate area for the child and for adults. Separate bathroom with an extra sink in the toilet. The shower had multiple settings including massage, hot water with good pressure. The fridge served as a mini-bar. No kettle, but there was a capsule coffee maker with daily refills, and tea bags. We stayed on the 8th floor, room 83, with a nice view from the balcony where you can sunbathe. Breakfast from 7 to 11.”
